From US Lacrosse

Rising junior Lindsey Ronbeck (Manhasset, N.Y.) had three goals and an assist and MVP Olivia Harpel (West Windsor Plainsboro North (N.J.) scored once to lead the Pride to a 15-11 victory over Liberty in the Champion All-America Showcase title game Tuesday at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Ronbeck, who has verbally committed to play at the University of Florida, finished the four-game event with 10 goals.

Another player used to playing in US Lacrosse events was Pride’s Laura Frankenfield, a Wissahickon (PA) graduate who is headed to Boston College. She played in the inaugural US Lacrosse U15 National Championship in 2009 for WissLax, has played in the US Lacrosse National Tournament the last three years and capped off her scholastic career by scoring two goals in Pride’s championship game win.

The three-day Champion All-American Showcase featured approximately 80 of the nation’s top high school players and they represented 27 states.

Frankenfield’s Pride team trailed just once in the contest – a 2-1 deficit in the opening minutes and seemed to have an answer for every run by Liberty.

After Liberty scored the final two goals of the first half to cut Pride’s lead to 9-8, Pride opened the second half by scoring the first four goals to take command at 13-8. Liberty then ripped off three straight goals, two of them by Maryland commit Shelby Scanlin (Cardinal Gibbons, N.C.) to cut it to 13-11 with just under 10 minutes to play, but Frankenfield and Kelly Dolan scored in the final five minutes to ice the game for Pride.

Harpel is a rising senior headed to Northwestern.

Ronbeck and another Florida recruit, Carli Marsh (Pine Crest School, Fla.) , led Pride with three goals and one assist each and Annie Spewak (Parkway West, MO) also had three goals. Scanlin led Liberty with four goals and Kate Burbank (Fox Lane, N.Y.) added two goals and a game-high four draw controls.

In the third place game, Spirit jumped out to a 12-4 halftime lead and went on to an 18-10 victory behind four goals from Allison Dudley (Francis Scott Key, MD) and two goals and five assists from Olivia Hompe (New Canaan, CT). Hayley Ciklin (Benjamin School, Fla.) and Mollie Stevens (Queen Anne’s County, MD) each had two goals for Freedom and Rachel Ramirez (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) made 11 second half saves while allowing just six goals.
