RANDOLPH, N.J. – Jaime Biskup said it was easy to blend with her teammates Saturday and Sunday in the Nike Elite 120 at The Indoor Sports Pavilion.

“We got very lucky that we meshed so well,” said Biskup, a 2019 attack from Eastport-South Manor (N.Y.) and the LI Yellowjackets, whose team, the Knights, won the team competition. “We had a great coach (Kate Gentry), and all the girls were very unselfish and great players which made it fun to be around them and play with them.
“It was great having two of my YJ friends (Olivia Carner and Claire Morris) there and having Claire in the cage is always awesome. I think our reason for success was that we wanted to win so bad and it wasn’t about only a couple of girls going to goal all the time; it was playing as a team and winning as a team.”
The Knights defeated the Gators, 7-5, in the title game. “We all felt like we have been playing together forever which makes it easy to feel comfortable and know that you can count on each other,” said Biskup. “It seemed like after every game we just got better and closer as a team.”
The Nike Elite 120 featured all uncommitted players; 120 in each class. Eighty college coaches attended the event, which also featured testing in four skills by Parisi Speed School (top finishers are listed below).
Biskup – who had the fastest shot in the 2019 division with a blast of 67 MPH – also answered these questions:
What goals did you have coming in and did you accomplish them?
Biskup: “I think my goals were to do my best and really show my skills and also have fun. I also wanted to become a player that the team is able to rely on in certain situations – which I’m pretty confident I accomplished. That was was awesome. One of my goals for the testing was not only to run my fastest but also to prove that I have a very fast shot, which I did and it felt awesome.”
How did you do in the Parisi testing and did you enjoy it?

Biskup: “Overall I feel like I did well in the testing. I did enjoy it actually a lot because it was fun to test myself and see what I was capable of.”
What did you learn from the event that will help you in the coming season?
Biskup: “Coach Gentry coached us to step up on defense and really pressure the ball to cause turnovers. I think this really helped us go undefeated and win the championship. As an attacker it showed me the importance of pressuring the ball on rides to cause turnovers is just as important as an assist or scoring. It was great to be able to learn from her and I think it will help me in my upcoming season.”

What goals did you have coming in and did you accomplish them?
Carner: “Coming into this event, my goals were to just play my hardest and make some great new friends.”
How did you team mesh so well and what was the reason for the team’s success?
Carner: “We lucked out having two of my Yellow Jackets teammates, Jamie Biskup and Claire Morris on the team. Our team just clicked together right from the beginning and this bond with all 15 girls led to easy success because we all wanted to work together and win together as a team. We all supported each other and that was the main reason the team did so well.”
How did you do in the Parisi testing and did you enjoy it?
Carner: “I think I did well in the Parisi events. I was definitely nervous at first going in, but once I was there and saw that everyone felt the same way, I started just enjoying being there with my friends.”
What did you learn from the event that will help you in the coming season?
Carner: “Coach Gentry was a great coach and really motivated us to play together as a team. We all learned a lot about competing hard but keeping it fun. I learned that if you just give it your all and try your best, things will come out well in the long run.

What goals did you have coming in and did you accomplish them?
Rohr: “My goal was to play against the best and see how I did under pressure. I didn’t know anyone and it was nerve wracking at first, but we played as a team from first game and that was a big accomplishment.”
How did you team mesh so well (I know you had some YJ teammates) and what was the reason for the team’s success?
Rohr: “Coach Gentry got us together after our first meeting. Usually at a showcase everyone wants to go 1-on-1 and show the college coaches what they have, but we played like a team and that worked for us.”
How did you do in the Parisi testing and did you enjoy it?
Rohr: “My times really surprised me. I didn’t think I was that fast. Playing middie, that will help in transition. I have keep doing more agility practice.”
What did you learn from the event that will help you in the coming season?
Rohr: “I learned a lot of stickwork skills because the girls on my team had really good stickwork. This was definitely the best showcase I have been to. The level of play was insane and it was definitely great playing with such different styles. I also learned how to play well with people I don’t know. It definitely makes you want to work harder. Winning makes it even better!”
