MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – The North team dominated at the @nlclacrosse this week at River City Sportsplex, winning the championship with an 11-2 win over the Midwest. The North squad went 6-0 overall, outscoring its foes, 53-18.

“The biggest reason (for our success) was no one person was above the team,” said North defenseman Henry De Tolla, who attends St. Thomas Aquinas in Dover, N.H. and was one of nine North All-Stars. “We all felt honored and privileged to be on this team and respected every other guy for making it
“It made us unselfish, which led to confidence which led to trust in one another.”

De Tolla said he was not shocked to win the title game so easily, and that the North team got a wakeup call after falling behind, 5-1, to the South in the semis before winning, 6-5.

“I was not suprised to dominate like that in the title game,” he said. “We had a slow start in the semifinal game and battled back from a 5-1 deficit. It is unlikely that a team with this much talent would have two bad starts back to back. We just wanted to finish what we started and relaxed in the title game and had fun.”

De Tolla was one of nine North players to earn All-Star honors and he shared the Brine NLC championship and All-Star experience with long-time Houlagan’s club teammate Henry Santos, an attackman from Dover who attends Berwick Academy (ME).

“Reed and I have been playing together for the past 6 summers,” De Toll said “We are both late developers athletically so we are very cerebral when we play. Now that we are catching up to these players physically the game is starting to slow down. It is so great to have someone who has gone through the ups and downs with you to share this moment.”
