MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – Ian Laviano tallied four goals and one assist to lift Cold Spring Harbor to a 15-4 victory over Penn Yan for its second straight New York Class C title Saturday at Middletown High School.

The Seahawks (No. 12 in the C2C Lacrosse North America Rankings) finished 18-1.

“This feels awesome. It is just so great, back to back. It feels just as great as last year. This feeling is indescribable.”

Cold Spring Harbor dominated from the start and led 5-1 after one period and 10-1 at halftime. Kevin Winkoff tallied three goals, Matt Licciardi had two goals and three assists and Taylor Strough added two goals and one assist.

“This was a wonderful game,” said Laviano. “Coming in here we wanted to try and defend the title the best we can. We came out from the first start of the game and just kept hammering. We were up by a significant lead at halftime and coach (Dennis Bonn) said to us, ‘Just keep playing, stay focused and make a run.’ We were just on fire today.

Bonn said his team never let up.

“This is unbelievable,” said Bonn. “I’m so happy especially for the seniors. It all comes down to this. That was a really good team that we faced today.

“We played well leading into this game but you never know. Today we just came out and everything seemed to click, offensively and defensively. We are a dangerous team because we have a lot of weapons on offense. Today I thought our defense played so well, to hold a very good team to four goals, that is something to be said.”

Tate Stewart tallied two goals for Penn Yan (17-3).
