GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Hunter Embury tallied three straight goals to boost Yorktown to a 7-6 victory over Shoreham Wading River Wednesday in the New York State Class B semifinal game at Hofstra University.

Yorktown (16-6, Section 1 champion) advances to play Section 3 champion Jamesville DeWitt for the state title Saturday at 11 a.m. at Middletown High School. JD toppled Webster Thomas, 13-9.
Shoreham-Wading River (Section 11) closed at 18-3.
“This was a phenomenal game,” said Embury, whose Cornhuskers shoot for their eighth state title. “I love my team. I think we are doing something special. We got one more game. It was nerve wracking from start to finish but this team we know how to close games.
“I think we just played the way we have been playing all season. I’m confident and I know my teammates are confident so we just have to keep going.”
Jon Constant gave Shoreham (18-3) a 5-4 lead to open the second half, but Embury scored with 14.8 seconds left in the third period to tie it. Then with just over six minutes to play Embury tallied the go-ahead goal off a feed from identical twin Jamison Embury (one goal, three assists). Hunter Embury added the insurance tally with 1:03 to play off another feed from his brother before the Wildcats scored one late to make it 7-6.
Dom Cioffi tallied two goals for Yorktown.
“That was very exciting,” said Yorktown head coach Dave Marr. “Our defense played tremendous and kept us in the game. Offensively we had a bunch of opportunities but their goalie played a great game against us.
Jason Curran tallied two goals and two assists and Chris Gray had two goals for Shoreham Wading River.
“I think playing zone was an interesting thing,” said Shoreham Wading River head coach Mike Taylor. “They played a lot of man in the film that we had. I saw them play zone but I didn’t think they would go full time zone.
“We had trouble finishing today. We hit a lot of pipes and we were a little bit unlucky on the finishing side. They did a great job. You have to give them a lot of credit. They had four great poles on the outside and handled a lot of our dodging. They did a great job slowing down our transition.”
