Trinity-Pawling School (NY) junior midfielder Shane Madden has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Shane Madden ledger:
High School: Trinity-Pawling School, Pawling, New York
Graduation Year:Class of 2015
Position: Midfielder
College Choice: University of Massachusetts Amherst
Club Affiliation: Progression CT Hurricanes
Major lacrosse honors: Under Armour Underclassmen Games for Team New England, Nike Bluechip, Peak 200, Top 205, Moonlight Showcase
Academic Honors: Honor Roll
What will you major in/study? Business
Why did you choose UMass? “I chose UMass because, growing up as a New England kid all my life, the town of Amherst just seemed like home. I love the campus and everything it had to offer. Also, I really felt comfortable having Coach (Greg) Cannella coach me for 4 years on a team that is always competing.”
What are your thoughts on this past HS lacrosse season/team’s outlook for next season? “This past High School season was very disappointing for the team. We went into the season with high hopes to go on and win a State championship when we were met in the first round by the soon to be State Champions, the Weston Trojans. The team showed many signs of being the team we all envisioned it being but it just didn’t work out. Although I will be transferring and attending the Trinity-Pawling school this fall, I believe Brookfield still has many talented kids with 4 years of experience at the varsity level and will be looking for redemption.
“As for TP, who lost in a heartbreaker to Taft School in the Founder’s League Championship, I believe we have a very promising season ahead of us.”
Additional Comments: “I would like to first thank my parents for supporting my growth in the game as well as the demanding financial status of a lacrosse player trying to get recruited.
“I would also like to thank Coach Delia, and the Progression guys, if it weren’t for them I would have never realized how far my game could improve.
“Lastly, I would like to thank my past High School coaches, the Loftus brothers for turning the BHS program around, as well as my current High School coach at TP for all the dedication he put into helping me in the recruiting process.”
